The guides on this site are free to reuse, including commercially, as long as you credit us.

The Stax IQ guides are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. You may copy, quote, translate, adapt and republish them, in any medium, for any purpose including commercial ones, provided you give credit and link back.

What the licence covers

Every guide on this site: the pages listed on the guides index, and the methodology pages behind the two calculators. Each licensed page carries the licence in its own footer, so if a page does not say it is licensed, it is not.

What the licence does not cover

The Stax IQ desktop application and its source. The Hotel Operating Agreements Series, the owner's toolkit and any other paid material. The Fee Stack Decoder and other free downloads. The calculators themselves, as distinct from the methodology pages that explain them. The Stax IQ name, wordmark and visual identity. And any third-party name or mark referred to in the text, which belongs to its owner and is used for identification and commentary only.

How to credit us

Name Stax IQ, link to the page you took it from, and name the licence. Something like:

If you adapt rather than reproduce, say so, so your readers know the changes are yours rather than ours. You do not need to ask permission, and you do not need to tell us, though we are always glad to hear where something has been useful.

Why we did this

University librarians and course leads maintain research guides for their students, and many of them will only link to material that carries an explicit open licence. Free to read is not the same thing: without a licence, default copyright applies, and a librarian has no permission to put an excerpt in a course pack or let a lecturer reproduce a chart in a lecture. That ruled us out of a channel we wanted to be in, for no benefit to us. The guides are how people find the work. Making them harder to pass on served nobody.

Accuracy

The licence gives you permission to reuse. It is not a warranty that the figures apply to your hotel. Everything here is general information, the ranges given are what the market typically produces rather than what any given contract says, and it is not legal, financial, tax or professional advice. If you republish, keep that caveat with the text.
