Plain terms for the website, the app and digital purchases.

What this site provides

Stax IQ publishes educational content about hotel finance: guides, calculators, books and a desktop application. All of it is general information, not legal, financial, tax or professional advice. Figures quoted in guides are industry ranges, not a quote for any specific hotel. Take qualified advice before acting on anything you read or model here.

Using the content

The content on this site, the free downloads and the paid materials are owned by Stax IQ. You may use them for your own work, including inside your organisation and with your advisers. Except as set out below, you may not republish, resell or redistribute them, and paid materials may not be shared outside the purchasing organisation.

The guides are an exception and are openly licensed. The guide pages, which carry the licence in their own footer, are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, so you may copy, adapt and republish them, including commercially, with credit and a link back. See the content licence for exactly what is and is not covered. Where these terms and that licence disagree about the guides, the licence governs.

Using Stax IQ in your browser

The browser version is offered on a 14-day free trial. Starting a trial requires an email address and no payment details. The trial unlocks every feature, and one trial is issued per email address; asking again returns the licence you already have rather than a fresh fortnight.

It is provided as is and without warranty of any kind. Stax IQ is a modelling tool: it does what you tell it with the assumptions you give it, and the outputs are yours to check before you rely on them in any transaction, negotiation or investment decision. Nothing it produces is financial, legal, tax or investment advice.

Your models and data are yours and stay on your machine. You may use the outputs in your own work, including work you are paid for. You may not resell or redistribute access to Stax IQ itself, share a licence issued to you, or attempt to circumvent the trial limits. We may change or withdraw the browser version, and we may end a trial that is being used in a way this section prohibits.

The desktop app

The Stax IQ app is currently free while in preview. It is provided as is, without warranty of any kind; you are responsible for checking outputs before relying on them in any transaction. Your models and data remain yours and stay on your machine.

Purchases and refunds

Digital purchases are delivered immediately after payment. If a delivery fails, or what you received is not as described, email hello@staxiq.app within 14 days of purchase and we will fix the problem or refund you.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Stax IQ's total liability arising from the website, the app or any purchase is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malta.
